The Consumables Database.

The Consumables Database keeps a record of the consumables the business uses for product manufacturing. The authors of SignQuote SA have entered a database of Falcon's list of Consumables and prices. The authors use this database in their sign products manufacturing as well as other added items from other suppliers. (Fig.9.1)

The user can click here to find help for editing, adding and deleting the consumables used for generating prices. It is important to keep these up-to-date as your consumable costs change.

Please note that the consumables database has extra columns consisting of Unit, Price and Total.

To use consumables in the price calculations the user has to click on the Consumables button on the Estimate Calculator form. (Fig.9.2

When the consumables database opens, the user can select the consumable to be used in the product in one of two ways.

1. If the ID number is known to the user, it can be typed into the number space in the toolbar. When the user presses Enter or double clicks on the number space, the blue marker will jump to the line number entered. (Fig.9.3)

2. The user can also scroll down to the desired line and double click on it to select the consumable row number.

When the row has been selected, clicking on the Consumable 1 button inserts the information into the Consumable 1 line, but does not calculate the price until the user enters the quantity required. (Fig.9.4) This quantity works on a percentage basis. If the user is going to use the whole consumable for the manufacturing of the product, the user must enter 100. If the user is going to use 2 of the same item, the user will insert 200. If the user is going to use half of an item, the user will insert 50.

Clicking on OK or pressing Enter will then calculate the price of the consumable including VAT, if applicable, as well as profit and handling expenses. (Fig.9.5)

If the user intends using only this single type of consumable for the product, clicking the OK button will then enter the consumable into the price calculation. If more than one type of consumable is to be used, the user can just repeat the above process.
